So, have I mentioned to you all about how much I love my wedding coordinator, Wendy?!  She’s the greatest!!!  As if she doesn’t already have enough on her plate with planning and executing weddings for this year, she did me the most wonderful of all favors and took a special trip to St. Andrews…just to check out our venues!!!  And I’m sorry, but it’s not like she’s a hop-skip-and-a-jump from St. Andrews…we’re talking over an hours drive to get there!!!  If that doesn’t tell you how amazing she is…I’m not sure that anything will!!

Of course, she benefited as well because she had a chance to actually talk with Phyllis (our Old Course Hotel contact) and get an idea of what we’re looking at for our ceremony and reception.  The Old Course Hotel website has very few pictures of the Boardroom, which is where our reception will take place.  Honestly, our choice of the Boardroom was based solely on the verbal description of the website and Clare (our other Old Course Hotel contact).  While in St. Andrews, she had an opportunity to scope out other hidden places at the Cathedral, which is nice since the Cathedral will be open to the public during our ceremony and we don’t exactly want Joe Schmo just walking around in our pictures!!  While there are several pictures of the Cathedral on the internet, I wanted an idea of what the not-so-populated places looked like.  Granted, a final spot for the ceremony won’t be decided until the day before, it’s still nice to have a better idea of what to expect upon arrival.  Here’s some pictures for you – both of the stunning views from the Boardroom and the Cathedral.  Enjoy…

The Boardroom again - keep in mind that the chairs will be covered and tied for a more elegant look. The table will also be set up with fancy flowers and place settings.

A view of St. Rule's Tower from the cemetery within the Cathedral...gruesome, I know, but rather interesting.

The Priory Building of St. Andrews Cathedral. This is our indoor option…it’s not exactly beautiful per se, but the history is spectacular!!! Let’s just keep our fingers crossed for blue skies and sunshine!!

Dad…did you notice the blue skies in these pictures?  See – it’s not always gloomy and overcast in Scotland!!!  There is a ray of hope!! 🙂

As for our next step, Wendy is currently researching ministers for us to consider.  We’ve decided that we want to stay as authentic and traditional as possible, and we think having a Scottish minister will fit perfectly with that – Scottish accent and all!!!

P.S. ONLY 15 MORE MONTHS!!!!!
